SUMMER IN IDAHO 2016

August 26, 2016 in TRAVEL, CHILDREN

Summer and Idaho are words that go together in our family. Ever since Sophia was in kindergarten we have made the trek up to visit my sister. Sophia looks forward to it the day we get back and longs to see her cousins all year. And, this year I was there in May without Sophia so she was not happy that she had to stay home and go to school...It was testing time to boot.

This year we did it a little differently. We usually drive up through Nevada and stay the night in Primm and stop in Jackpot to use the bathroom. Sophia's first look inside a casino was at the age of 6 and to see a casino through the eyes of a child is amazingly fun. Knowing the casino was going to be smokey, we ran through quickly holding our breath to the bathroom. On the way out Sophia wasn't as fast. She walked looking around at all the elderly people playing the slots. As we walked outside she looked up at Grandpa and said, "Grandpa you wouldn't believe all the old people playing games in there!" She thought it was so fun that old people liked to play games too.

This year we spent a lot of time playing games and cards with Grandpa and of course we made it to the river during the heat of the day.  It really doesn't matter what we have planned or where we go while we are there as long as she is with her cousins.  I love that Sophia recognizes the importance of family!!!
